Luz Rodriguez-Vargas

Biography

Luz H Rodriguez-Vargas is a Marine Biologist from the Universidad Jorge Tadeo Lozano in Santa Marta, Colombia. She has extensive international experience in marine conservation, marine management, and policy engagement within international environmental agreements, such as the Inter-American Convention for the Protection and Conservation of Sea Turtles (IAC). She holds a Master’s degree from University Sains Malaysia in Penang, Malaysia, and is an alumnus of the Conservation Leadership in the Caribbean Programme (CLiC). Throughout her career, Luz has led various marine research and conservation projects. Marine mammals, sea turtles, and invasive species are her passion, with small cetaceans being a previous area of research. Currently, she is focusing on policy and stakeholder engagement to protect marine ecosystems.
